Xeb met each of Kerab's drinking associates with a nod and a smile, determined not to for his demeanor not to be dampened by the mood of indifference he was receiving...which was what he wanted anyway. Despite all his prior confidence, he was slightly taken aback by the prescence of Deputy Ghevel, with or without the helmet on. Regardless of how dangerous, menacing, or cunning Kerab's other friends could be, any connection with the Empire, no matter how thin and tennuous Ghevel's may be, was easily the least preferable of all of them.

Which was why Xebidos' goodbyes to the Deputy were all the more cheerful.

'So soon, Deputy? A shame, but without such noble arbiters as yourself protecting us helpless citizens, what indeed would become of us?'

He allowed his head to sway slightly, leaving doubt as to whether it was him talking or the Malastare Burn. As Ghevel left, he took another swig and looked thoughtful, before letting out a wide grin.

'This stuff sure gets you where you live...'

"So, Fwera, what takes your pleasure?"

The Twi'lek gazed around behind him, only stopping to pull his lekku out of the way of his eyes. The Progression Gaming room was well stocked, if it didn't already have a table dedicated to a game, it would be able to retrieve it soon enough onto a multi purpose holovid board.

He would have let Kerab choose the game, pleading unfamiliarity with gambling, but he felt that he was pulling the inexperienced chain too strongly, and that Ghentril's reputation as a gambler was only exceeded by his other one. Xeb looked back at all his previous actions surrounding the charade and realised he had been off target. Kerab's friends would certainly be taken in, but the fact that Kerab knew him at all made him also know what he was capable of.

And Ghentril Fwera never was an idiot..., Xeb thought, the smile fading.

A small sliver of doubt had crept in, which threatened to tear asunder what Xebidos had tried to build since he left Zeretebal's. Ghentril never got drunk out of his senses, Ghentril never was fond of small talk...

And I'll never be Ghentril.

Xeb had said that to himself countless times before, but all had been in a positive sense. Now, amidst the noisy commotion of the gaming room, sitting across from the Dug, Xeb would have welcomed the single minded purpose, determination, and skill that he had tried to reject all 'his' life.

'Straight poker will do me', he finally said, motioning over for a droid to bring over a few decks. He disliked the electronic ones simply because it was harder to detect cheating.

He sat shuffling the cards with long deliberate moves before he began dealing. Inside, his impetuousness has worn off, but wasn't replaced by his resignation.

I may not be able to shoot like Ghentril, but I can play like him...that's something

He looked at his hand.

I guess
