PAZURKA - Izlot Qar
With Koyle flat on his back and supposedly helpless, the Vodran pair simultaneously snatched at their blasters. For all his small size, this little Verpine had proven more than a handful for the taller, stronger aliens. And it seemed that super-heated plasma was the only language the vengeful slicer understood.
Which was a reasonable thesis. For even as they drew, Koyle was firing again. Anger and urgency burned in the bug's blood as he took aim on the second Vodran's face.
The flash of the gun obscured the runt's view, but the result was definitive enough. His victim never made more than a soft exclamation, the shock of the wound killing him before he even hit the ground with smoke still wisping from the hole. The sour scent of roasted Vodran sat heavy in the stomach like an overindulgence in stodgy Brentaalian fries.
But there was scant time for celebration. His face twisting up in the first real expression Koyle had seen from the aliens, the remaining Vodran screamed something incoherent in his native tongue and lashed out powerfully. Unready for the assault, Koyle was barely able to flinch before the boot connected with his head.
The stars swam again as he fell back against the sand. Somewhere eerily close the chorus of blaster bolts was giving way to high-pitched whistles. But maybe that was just concussion, screwing with his head...

"That's all. It will be finished tomorrow, and will no doubt be the finest literary work since William Shakespeare's Gay Boys in Bondage." - Joss Whedon, footnote to Buffy the Vampire Slayer pilot draft
